Don’t Mess with Texas Students (2020 – 2021)
In 2019 Texas led the country by passing cybersecurity regulations for schools k-12.  Texas requires that each ISD (Independent School District) maintain a Cybersecurity Policy (SB820), provide annual Cybersecurity training and identify a Cybersecurity Coordinator.  These actions have set a new standard of care for schools in the K-12 space throughout the country. Spring of 2020 brought the covid pandemic and school budgets were stressed like never before. Approximately 57M students were sent home for distance learning and technology needs grew in one week. Even in the new 2020 budget cycle technology departments have immense budget constraints. Believe it or not many ISDs are making the choice to treat Cybersecurity as a separate issue and not an integrated part of the broader IT program simply due to lack of resources. Helping schools integrate Cybersecurity into their IT program has become our inaugural project. Our goal is to help 50-100 schools achieve a safer IT environment while protecting our nation’s most valuable data.
MITS has “IT” Covered (2020 – 2021)
Sometimes big things come in small packages. With the proliferation of mobile devices and tablets to students, we believe that the availability of cameras broadens the potential threat of bad actors accessing and/or students losing their right to privacy. As such, we are leveraging smaller individual donations to supply web cam cover for laptops used throughout  ISDs. Our goal is to supply a minimum of 25,000 covers in 2021.
